1. Introduction:
Tongji University is one of the first universities to undertake the Pre-University education of Chinese government scholarship undergraduate students in China, and at the same time recruit self funded preparatory students. Located in Siping Road Campus of Tongji University, the Pre-University department for foreign students of Tongji University, Ministry of education, has a teaching building with Chinese traditional architectural characteristics, modern teaching facilities such as multimedia classroom, special classroom, lecture hall, electronic reading room, Chinese culture classroom, and a team of full-time teachers of Chinese, physics, mathematics and chemistry. All the teachers have graduate degree or above, and the teachers are strong enough to fully meet the needs of Pre-University education.
At present, the Pre-University Department has nearly 50 countries of Chinese government scholarship undergraduate preparatory students and some self funded students in school. They will systematically study general Chinese, professional Chinese, mathematics, physics, chemistry and other basic courses, and participate in various forms of school activities, such as language and culture activities around teaching, Experience of China activities, etc.
As one of the most famous universities in China, Tongji University’s international student Pre-University “bridge course” is connected with China's famous universities. According to the characteristics of international students, the preparatory course “bridge course” helps students quickly master the learning methods of China’s famous universities, adapt to the undergraduate learning life in advance, shorten the adaptation period of studying abroad, and finally smoothly enter the dream university suitable for themselves to study undergraduate major.
Upon completion of Pre-University “bridge course”, the University will also provide a more comprehensive and targeted admissions information platform to provide students with one-to-one admissions advisory services to assist students in planning their further studies. Upon completion of the programme and passing the final exam, students will receive a certificate of completion from Tongji University and will be given priority for admission to Tongji undergraduate programs. Some of the students who have successfully graduated from Tongji University after completing the Foundation Programme have gone on to further studies in China or returned to their home countries, started their own businesses, or are working in companies or international organizations.

3. Application materials:
1. Non-Chinese citizens who are at least 18 years of age (up to and including 31 December of the year of application for offline entry in the autumn semester and up to and including 31 August of the following year for online entry in the autumn semester), with a high school diploma or above and in good health.
2. Applicants to the Pre-Economic Management Program (entry in September each year) must have HSK3 or above or appropriate Chinese language proficiency.
3. Applicants for the spring session (entry in February each year) must pass a language proficiency and professional foundation test.
4. Those who are under 18 years of age by 31 August of the year of application must provide information on their guardian.

6. Application periods:
The spring admission is in mid- to late-February or early March each year and the application period is from November to December;
The fall admission is in early September each year and the application period is from March to June.
The specific time will be informed by the admission notice each year.
7. Application Procedure:
1. The Application Form (including application materials mentioned above) and registration fee must be arrived at the International Student Office of Tongji University before deadline.
2. Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China will be sent to the accepted applicants. The international school sends Pre-Admission Letters to students from the Pre-Economic Management Program .
3. The applicants must go to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their home country with the Admission Notice and the Visa Application for study in China to apply for the student entry visa.
4. Students must register at the International Student Office on time in accordance with the detailed requirements in the Admission Notice.
5. The international students should purchase comprehensive insurance on the registration day.
