Student category: Master student
School: Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property
Language of instruction: English

Program introduction:
Intellectual property rights could be seen as a bundle of property rights, such as patents, copyrights, trademarks and designs, that protect “creations of the mind”. In the increasing knowledge-driven economy, we have the new products, brands, and creative designs almost every day, and IP becomes an increasing important part of every aspect of life. For creators, IP right provide certain exclusive rights to defend their innovations and maximize the commercial benefits from their creative efforts or reputations; At the national level, strong IP protections incentivize R&D investment, encourage trade and foreign investments, drive productivity and economic growth. The more important, IP maximizes the knowledge spillover, which accelerate the generation of new technology and rising living standards overall. Whether it comes to the intelligent industry, green technologies or daily recreation, traditional culture, IP rights worth better understanding and protecting now more than ever.
Comprehensive and dynamic concepts of industrial property form the backdrop for this MIP in Industrial Property program. The program offers a unique and challenging opportunity for students not only to acquire solid knowledge in the core areas of IP, but also to focus on industrial property protection in its many facets and stages. As this is a program offered in cooperation with WIPO and high-ranking European universities and institutes, the international level will be covered extensively and comparative law aspects will be included, with European Union law serving as the primary paradigm of regional protection systems. The learning experience will be further enhanced and inspired by contributions from the College of Design and Innovation at Tongji University as well as by the involvement of specialized national and international judges and practitioners experienced in the field.
